The jurors said, “It might borrow styling hints from its bigger brothers, but the A3 still offers classic, chiseled contours and even better interior trim levels. With a superb choice of engines and four body styles, the Audi A3 range packs a hefty premium punch in the small luxury segment. Audi should be complimented for making this A3 ride like no other A3. All the old shimmer over rough surfaces has gone, replaced by a silky-smooth ride that approaches limousine quality.”

The 2015 Audi A3 has been lauded for keeping with the brand’s reputation for technical prowess and elegant styling. With its state-of-the-art lightweight technology, world-class drivetrain and superb interior, the A3 will make your heart skip a beat while seated in the cockpit. Other technical achievements come in the form of the mobile infotainment and driver’s assistance systems making the A3 seem like a much larger luxury car than it is.

Targeting the entry level luxury buyers, the 2015 Audi A3 can’t help but strike fear into the BMW 2-Series and the Mercedes-Benz CLA. The A3 is a statement car for Audi with its classy, understated design, luxurious amenities and an impeccable driving experience and we’re fairly confident it’s not done winning awards yet. So, you can wait for it to win more awards or you could come take one for drive while you still can at Carousel Motors of Iowa City.

The Redesigned 2014 Mazda3: Is it the Best Car in the World?

If you feel like you’ve been hearing a lot about Mazda recently, you are correct. They just keep garnering accolades and awards seemingly every week. At the forefront of this positive attention is the 2014 Mazda3. The all-new, redesigned Mazda3 has impressed many reviewers with its powerful engine, luxurious cabin and athletic handling even challenging cars at much higher price points for supremacy but don’t just take our word for it. Here’s a look at what others are saying about this car that has it all:

Mazda3-4-door-exterior-4

“Purposeful styling, fuel-efficient engines and an ideal ride and handling balance keep the 2014 Mazda 3 among the favorites in the compact car class.” – Edmunds

“Multiple trim grades, two fuel-efficient engine choices and several class-exclusive convenience and safety features make the Mazda3 an even more enticing alternative to rivals like the Chevy Cruze, Ford Focus, Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Kia Forte, and Toyota Corolla.” – Kelley Blue Book

It’s hard to make firm conclusions from the short exposure we get with a car on a press launch, but it’s a solid bet to say the Mazda3 is the best compact on the market. In a segment that long ago shed its reputation for being entirely stodgy or boring (a change for which Mazda can claim some credit, thanks to the original 3), the new Mazda3 stands out as the most stylish and the most fun to drive.” – Popular Mechanics

“We got an amazing 45 MPG on the highway with the automatic transmission and an impressive 41 with the manual.” – Consumer Reports

As you can see, the 2014 Mazda3 has received some high praise and deservedly so. The new sleek design of the Mazda3 is probably what earns most of the attention. The sexy and aggressive new lines of the 3 make it feel like you’re looking at more of a luxury segment car and keeping with that theme, what Mazda did with the interior is nothing short of amazing. With a modern, upscale feel to the cabin, one is able to fully enjoy the innovative technology Mazda has become known for over the years.

The best part about the 2014 Mazda3 is it’s not just all show and no go. The optional 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine provides 184hp and a sporty ride while the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine is just peppy enough while boasting outstanding fuel efficiency at 30 mpg city/41 mpg highway.

These are just some of the reasons why the 2014 Mazda3 earned “Best Compact Car for the Money,” “Best Compact Car for Families,” and “Best Hatchback for Families,” by U.S. News and World Report and these are just some of the reasons why you’ll fall in love with the 2014 Mazda3. 2014 Mazda3, One of Three Finalists for World Car of the Year

At a press conference hosted by Bridgestone Corporation and the New York International Auto Show at the Geneva International Motor Show, the top three finalists for the World Car of the Year, World Luxury Car, World Performance Car, World Green Car and World Car Design of the Year awards were announced today.

Picture 33

The finalist for Overall World Car of the Year had some interesting company this time around. Joining luxury brands BMW(4Series) and Audi(A3) was the 2014 Mazda3. This should come as no surprise as Mazda has been garnering plenty of accolades recently. In fact, the Mazda3 was also one of the three finalists for World Car Design of the Year along with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the BMW i3.

So how does the Mazda3 manage to be mentioned in the same breath with these luxury brands? A change in design to the 2014 model is one way. It’s eye-catching to say the least reminding some of a BMW or Infiniti. Even the interior was upgraded significantly including a nifty navigation system. This car has class and style.

The 2014 Mazda3 is offered with a 2.0-liter or a 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G inline four-cylinder engine with optional six-speed automatic or manual transmissions.  The 2.0-liter, automatic Mazda3 features the best 30/41 mpg fuel economy whereas the manual version comes in at 29/41 mpg. The super sexy Hatchback with the same 2.0-liter engine offers 29/40 mpg with the manual transmission and 30/40 mpg with the automatic.  Opting for the peppier 2.5-liter engine brings the fuel efficiency down but just slightly to 28/39 mpg in the sedan and 28/37 mpg in the hatchback. Those numbers can both improve with optional i-Eloop braking system to 29/40 mpg and 29/39 mpg, respectively.

If you’re waiting for the 2014 Mazda3 to win more awards, you can because it probably will but if you’re ready to drive a stylish, sporty, insanely fuel-efficient and sophisticated car on par with the luxury brands but for a fraction of the price, then it’s time to stop by Carousel Motors of Iowa City.

Mazda Wins Prestigious “2014 5-year Cost to Own Award”

With many accolades coming in recently for various Mazda models, it should come as no surprise Mazda’s entire brand has just received the very coveted, “2014 5-Year Cost to Own Award,” from Kelley Blue Book for overall brand which is the highest and most prestigious award KBB gives out. This is the second year in a row Mazda has won this award which is given out to the brand with the lowest cost of ownership over a five year period. This is just further validation for a brand committed to producing the best cars with the best value for its customers.

“Hard work and dedication to building the best possible vehicles has brought Mazda to its second consecutive year earning the 5-year Cost to Own Award for the overall Mazda brand,” said Jim O’Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO. “Mazda’s new generation of vehicles continue to perform very well against the competition, not only with driving dynamics and fit and finish, but fuel economy and overall cost of ownership, and this award is additional proof of that.”

“New-car shoppers naturally want to know how much a car will cost upfront; however, they also should consider what vehicles will save them money down the road,” said Dan Ingle, vice president of vehicle valuations for Kelley Blue Book.  “Kelley Blue Book’s 5-Year Cost to Own information evaluates the other out-of-pocket expenses drivers will incur in the first five years and Mazda tops the list among all non-luxury brands.”

KBB.com cites Mazda’s ability to offer consumers a low Kelley Blue Book® Fair Purchase Price, excellent fuel economy thanks to SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, low insurance costs and excellent residual values, which help boost consumer confidence when buying a Mazda.  Thanks to these factors, Mazda is able to offer consumers an ownership experience that is both enjoyable and affordable, two things that don’t always accompany each other.  Best of all, the 2014 5-Year Cost to Own Award for Mazda means that this experience can be had across multiple car lines in the Mazda brand, including Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-5.

If you’re looking for an amazing new car with unparalleled technology and award-winning value, look no further than the entire Mazda line at Carousel Motors of Iowa City. 2014 Volkswagen Beetle Adds Fuel-Efficiency With New Engine Without Raising Price Tag

A trend in the automotive industry is replacing larger naturally aspirated engines with smaller turbocharged options. This trend has been seen in Volkswagen’s Jetta and Passat models and now, the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle will receive the same makeover from its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine to a 1.8-liter turbo. This, of course, is done to create a more fuel-efficient Beetle without sacrificing power and surprisingly enough, without raising the price.

    • Beetle 1.8T priced from $20,295
    • Beetle Convertible 1.8T base price is $25,170
    • Coupe gains 4 mpg on EPA estimated highway fuel economy over outgoing 2.5 automatic transmission model
    • Convertible gains 5 mpg on highway cycle, or 19 percent improvement

Designed to be lighter and more fuel-efficient, the new EA888 Gen 3 turbocharged and direct-injection four-cylinder powerplant features a number of refinements, such as a new thinwall cylinder block, a cylinder head with an integrated exhaust manifold, and careful attention to the reduction of friction. The new 1.8-liter TSI engine is built at Volkswagen’s new engine factory in Silao, Mexico, part of the Volkswagen Group’s ongoing $5 billion investment in North America.

Talk about a great news! The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle gets a new, more fuel-efficient,turbocharged engine without compromising performance while you get more savings at the pump. Seems like a great deal to us. If you feel the same, stop by and test drive the 2014 Volkswagen Beetle only at Carousel Motors of Iowa City.

Audi to Put the Auto in Automobile with Self-Driving Cars

Car manufacturers around the world are racing to produce the first “driver-less” car and at the forefront of that technology race is German automaker, Audi. Always known for pushing the envelope with technological advances, Audi is in a fierce race with BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Volvo and Toyota to come up with the first production self-driving car and it looks as though Audi is very close. So close, in fact, that at a recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas showed just how showroom ready this technology is by having a car drive itself on stage.

Picture 26

Also on display at the show was the actual computer circuit board behind this technology and it’s about the size of an Ipad. This computer is the brains behind a very elaborate system integrating the radars, lasers, cameras, ultrasonic censors with the car’s navigation system taking control away from the driver and even allowing the car to brake or swerve in case of emergencies. The technology also prevents crashes by allowing cars to communicate with one another. Even traffic lights in the future will be able to communicate with these new smart cars.

As you can expect, there will be some delays in the total introduction of these vehicles as the technology is ahead of governments’ legislation. This has given way for Audi to work with city planners and architects to help re-imagine how city travel will take place. Nevertheless, these are exciting times we are living in as automobiles become the “largest social mobile device people own,’ according to Audi’s head of technology, Ulrich Hackenberg.
