SQUEAKY BRAKES???
As we have been in the spring rain season we seem to get the complaint, “my brakes squeak” here at the service center. In a lot of cases this is a very normal condition. Most noises come from brake dust and moisture. Most of the time this occurs after a vehicle has sat overnight. Humidity and rain play a factor in these conditions which will cause a “film” of rust on the brake rotors. In most cases, the noise will dissipate after normal driving stops. In some cases, the vehicles have “high performance” brakes on the vehicle and require firm braking stops rather than gradual light braking to keep these noises from occurring. These types of brakes are on most Audi, Mercedes Benz, and VW high performance vehicles. Depending on the composite of brake material some noises may occur and may be considered as normal noises.
If the noise is continual and does not disappear in normal driving, brakes may need to be inspected. Please call or schedule online to get your vehicle in for a COMPLIMENTARY BRAKE INSPECTION on your Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Mazda or VW.

HIGH FUEL COSTS = SMARTER VEHICLE CHOICES
As we see the cost in fuel rise toward the $3.50 mark we all (including the media) think about the impact that will have on our lives. We all need to make smart choices on the vehicles we drive and the type of driving we do.
During times like this, it helps to think about consolidating your errand running, plan ahead for grocery store visits, or talk to coworkers about carpooling. Get creative, even the smallest of changes can make a huge impact at the gas pump.
Consolidating your trips doesn’t just mean less miles less gas. When your car is warmed up to operating temperature it takes less fuel to run the vehicle. The newer technology found on newer cars uses a lot of fuel on each start up. So, less starts, less fuel.
Maintenance has a lot to do with gas performance as well. Air, fuel and spark is what makes a vehicle run. If the systems are operating efficiently, then the vehicle will use less fuel.
Most vehicles should have the fuel injection systems cleaned every 30,000-50,000 miles. This will clean the intake manifolds, fuel rails and the valves in the cylinder head. This cleans the carbon deposits that can build up over time. Occasionally, the fuel filter will need to be replaced.
Air filters can also cause a vehicle to use more fuel if the filter is clogged. A vehicle needs to breath in order to run efficiently. Depending on the type of driving conditions, you could expect to change the filter every 40,000 miles.
Tire pressures play a part in fuel economy. Check the tire pressures monthly and keep them to optimum pressure. If you are unsure of what the pressures should be, look in the drivers door jam for the specifications (some models may vary). If you do not feel comfortable adjusting your own tire pressure, then bring the vehicle into Carousel Motors and we can do it for you.
Spark plugs also play a key role in fuel as this is what fires the fuel. Worn spark plugs will limit the firing ability of the fuel. Most spark plugs require replacement anywhere from 40,000-60,000 miles. All models and manufacturers vary on this.
With all this said, that is why we are offering you the above 10% savings on the needed maintenance for fuel efficiency. With gas prices going up, we hope this savings will keep a little extra dough in your pocket!
